If you want to set up and operate a plant that could damage the environment or endanger the general public, you need a permit under immission control law.

Due to their nature or operation, installations can cause harmful environmental effects or otherwise endanger, significantly disadvantage or significantly inconvenience the general public or the neighborhood.

If you want to set up and operate such a facility, you need a permit from the competent authority.

Stationary waste disposal facilities for the storage or treatment of waste are also subject to approval.

You must apply to the competent authority before installing and operating the system.

Depending on the administrative service, responsibility lies with one of these approval authorities:

• Structure and Approval Directorate(SGD)
• Rhineland-Palatinate State Office for Geology and Mining (LGB)
• Municipal administration of the independent city
• District administration
