You are planning to continue your studies at another university and would like as many of the achievements as possible to be recognised. Then apply for recognition at the university where you start your studies.

You would like to start or continue your studies at another university and would like to have your previous university achievements recognised. To do this, you must submit an application to the university where you want to start or continue your studies. Recognition of the achievements by the university takes place, provided that there are no significant differences in terms of the acquired competences compared to those to be acquired in future studies.

Equivalent knowledge and qualifications acquired outside the higher education sector are taken into account up to a maximum of half of the university studies.

Which documents are required is determined by the university at which you would like to start or continue your studies.

Recognition requires that you still have to complete at least one examination in the relevant course of study of the host university after enrollment.

• Continuing education courses: fees may apply

• You must submit an application for recognition to the university where you want to start or continue your studies.
• This checks whether the acquired competences do not show any significant differences compared to those to be acquired in future studies.
• If the university comes to the conclusion that there are significant differences, it must prove this (burden of proof lies with the university).
• Equivalent knowledge and qualifications acquired outside the higher education sector are credited to a maximum of up to half of the higher education programme.
• The procedures and examination criteria for recognition are laid down in the examination regulations of the respective university
