If you get married, your marriage will be entered in the marriage register at the registry office and thus notarized.

Volltext

The marriage is recorded (notarized) in the marriage register at the registry office. On the basis of this notarization - as long as the register entry has not yet been saved, also on the basis of a transcript - the registry office issues a marriage certificate upon request.

The following are included in a marriage certificate

  • the first names and surnames of the spouses,
  • the place and date of their birth and
  • the place and date of the marriage.

If the marriage is dissolved, this is stated at the end of the marriage certificate.

A certified printout from the marriage register can also be issued.

  • ancestors and descendants.

Other persons, including close relatives such as siblings, aunts and uncles, will only receive a marriage certificate if they can credibly demonstrate a legal interest (e.g. with a letter from the probate court, a court judgment or an enforceable title).

Kosten

The issuing of a marriage certificate or a certified register printout costs 13.00 euros, the second and each additional piece requested and produced in the same process costs 6.50 euros.

Kurztext

As proof of the marriage, you will receive a marriage certificate after the civil marriage. If you require further certificates at a later date (e.g. for pension matters), the registry office will issue you with additional copies on request at any time.

If you want the registry office to issue you with one or more marriage certificates at the same time as the marriage, please apply for this when registering the marriage.

Ansprechpunkt

The marriage certificate is usually issued by the registry office that keeps the marriage register with the marriage entry.
