To simplify the marketing of agricultural products within the Community, there are marketing standards for poultry meat and eggs, among other things. They are intended to make the market more transparent and help to improve product quality and facilitate sales. Their application is therefore in the interests of producers, traders and consumers. Compliance with the regulations must be monitored.
Inspectors from the Supervisory and Service Directorate (ADD) in Trier, Department 42, check compliance with marketing standards at producer and wholesale level.
The veterinary authorities (food monitoring) are responsible for monitoring at retail level.
