A geographic information system (GIS) is used to digitally record, store, organize, analyze and in particular to present this data graphically. Some of this information is also printed to the public and made available online. For example, city maps are enriched with additional public information and interactive services that serve to identify and display places based on a content interest (point of interest - POI).
