After completing your general school, you can acquire basic vocational training in the one-year or two-year vocational school.

After completing your general school, you can acquire basic vocational training in a subject of your choice and/or the intermediate school leaving certificate ("Realschulabschluss") or the extended lower secondary school leaving certificate at the one-year or two-year vocational school.

If you choose a one-year vocational school in a field with a specific job-related focus, the secondary school leaving certificate I - Realschulabschluss or an equivalent qualification may be required as a prerequisite for admission.

If you have an intermediate school leaving certificate, you can acquire a vocational qualification (assistant profession) at a two- or three-year vocational school. Some vocational schools that qualify for a profession also build on the lower secondary school leaving certificate or require a technical college entrance qualification.

Under certain conditions, it may also be possible to enter class 2 of a vocational school that qualifies for a profession, e.g. if you have a vocational qualification.

The prerequisite for admission to the one-year vocational school is

• the certificate of completion of the Hauptschule or
• an equivalent certificate
• Proof of a counselling interview on the possibilities and perspectives of vocational training at an extracurricular public institution (e.g. Federal Employment Agency)

• The prerequisite for admission to the two-year vocational school is

• the certificate of completion of the Hauptschule or an equivalent certificate, or
• Secondary school leaving certificate l - Realschulabschluss

• Prerequisites for admission to a vocational school qualifying for a profession are, among other things:

• the lower secondary school leaving certificate – secondary school leaving certificate
• as well as other admission requirements, which vary depending on the professional specialty.
• the half-year report of the last school attended
• (as soon as it is available) the diploma.

Further information on any documents that may be required can be obtained from your vocational school.

The vocational schools for nursing assistance and cosmetics that qualify for a profession can also be attended with a secondary school leaving certificate.

• The vocational school for computer science, which qualifies you for a profession, requires a technical college entrance qualification.

You submit the completed application with the necessary documents to the BBS. Your application will be checked with regard to the completeness of the submitted documents, the admission requirements and the capacity in the course of education. You will then receive a message from the school about the status of your registration.

If vocational schools have set registration dates or deadlines, schools will announce them publicly.

In the event of a refusal, an objection is possible.
