Apply for a funding program to strengthen the centers of rural areas.

The state grants subsidies for the initiation of urban-regional cooperation and the development of projects that serve to strengthen the anchor function of medium-sized and basic centers for the surrounding rural areas. The aim of the program is to network these locations with each other in order to develop ideas on how medium-sized and basic centers in rural areas can maintain or increase their attractiveness and vitality.

• Grant applications (provided by the granting authority)
• Municipalities: written expression of interest

• Only projects that are not eligible for funding under other funding programs of the state of Lower Saxony are eligible for funding
• Funding for investment and non-investment measures as well as funding for personnel expenses for the coordination and handling of the municipality's own activities in the area of inner city and/or center promotion must meet certain quality criteria (see annex to the legal basis)

Funding recipients must be

• be towns, municipalities or joint municipalities with at least 10,000 inhabitants in which a basic or medium-sized center is defined

• Submission of an expression of interest for inclusion in the program no later than four weeks before the respective application deadline
• Applications for funding must then be submitted by the project sponsor to the approval authority
• A statement from the respective district must also be submitted at the latest when the application for funding is submitted
• The approval authority makes the funding decision together with the respective municipal steering committee.

There is no entitlement to the grant.
