If you have a lower secondary school leaving certificate – Realschulabschluss, the extended secondary school leaving certificate I or an equivalent qualification, you can register at a technical secondary school under certain conditions.

The technical college provides students with an extended and in-depth practical and theoretical education. Upon passing the course, the entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences and thus the right to attend a university of applied sciences is acquired. The technical secondary school is offered with grades 11 and 12.

You can choose from the following disciplines:

• Business and administration

with a focus on economics, administration and administration of justice as well as computer science

• Technology

with a focus on civil engineering, information technology, mechatronics and a school-specific focus

• Health and welfare

with a focus on health care and social pedagogy

• Formation
• Nutrition and home economics
• Agriculture, biotechnology and environmental technology.

In grade 11 of the technical secondary school, students complete an internship in companies or equivalent internship institutions totaling at least 960 hours in addition to school lessons. The internship and subject-related teaching must be in the same subject area. This internship is a constitutive part of grade 11, in which the school supervises the content and implementation of the internship. School lessons are part-time or blocked.

In grade 12, the subject-related knowledge and general education of the students are expanded and deepened in full-time classes. Grade 12 ends with a final exam. Upon successful completion of the course, the entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences is awarded. This entitles the holder to study at universities of applied sciences in all federal states.

For admission to Grade 11:

• Certified proof of the lower secondary school leaving certificate – secondary school leaving certificate, the extended secondary school leaving certificate I or an equivalent qualification
• Proof of identity
• (as soon as available) Internship contract
• Registration forms provided by the school in completed form

In order to be admitted to grade 11, you must submit proof to the school of a counselling interview on the possibilities and perspectives of vocational training at an extracurricular public institution (e.g. Federal Employment Agency).

For admission to Grade 12:

• Proof of successfully completed vocational training and vocational school leaving certificate or equivalent level of education
• If applicable, internship certificate
• If applicable, proof of relevant full-time employment
• Proof of identity
• Registration forms provided by the school in completed form

In order to be admitted to grade 11 of the Fachoberschule, you must prove the following requirements:

• a lower secondary school leaving certificate – secondary school leaving certificate, the extended secondary school leaving certificate I or an equivalent qualification
• until the start of the course of education, a contract with a suitable internship institution

In order to be admitted to grade 12 of the Fachoberschule, you must prove the following requirements:

• the transfer from grade 11 to grade 12 of the technical secondary school, or
• at least two years of successfully completed relevant vocational training and a vocational school leaving certificate, or
• another equivalent level of education, or
• at least five years of relevant full-time employment, or
• with the secondary school leaving certificate l – Realschulabschluss or the introductory phase of the vocational high school in a relevant subject field and the completion of a relevant internship in an internship institution with a total of at least 960 hours a level of education equivalent to grade 11
• in the field of design, in addition, sufficient artistic aptitude

Registration takes place directly at the vocational school of your choice. Registration forms are available for download from the secretary's office or on the school's homepage.

You submit your application to the respective school with a technical college. The school will check your documents for completeness. You will then receive a written form. Message.

Deadlines and registration dates are set by the respective schools for the individual types of schools.

An admission will be communicated before the start of the school year.
