The construction and significant alteration of facilities in accordance with § 36 WHG, including embankments or excavations in and on surface waters, require the approval of the water authority.

If you wish to construct a facility or make significant changes to an existing facility in, above, below, over or on surface waters, you can apply for a permit from the water authority. Installations can be: dams, bridges, crossings, culverts, watercourse crossings with supply/supply lines, construction measures on watercourses, pipeline routes parallel to watercourses, bank reinforcements and property enclosures, footbridges.

- Declaration of consent from the landowner, if applicable

- Declaration of consent from the water and soil association, if applicable

The permit is subject to a fee. Fees are charged in accordance with the General Fee Schedule of the State of Lower Saxony. The amount of the fee depends on the amount of the installation costs.

You can apply informally for approval of installations on surface waters.
