If you have consented to the processing of your personal data, you can revoke this consent.

There are various legal bases for the processing of personal data. One of these is your consent to processing on the basis of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Your consent must, of course, be voluntary. Irrespective of this, you can withdraw your consent at any time. However, all processing of your data up to the point at which you withdraw your consent remains lawful.

Personal data includes, for example

- general personal data, such as name, address, age, marital status

- physical characteristics, such as gender, skin, hair or eye color, height

- Online data, such as IP address, location data, email address

- Bank data, such as account balances, account numbers

- Identification numbers, such as identity card number or social security number

- Land register entries

- Health information, such as genetic data, medical data

The body processing your data must inform you separately of this right to withdraw your consent. You can assert this right against public and non-public bodies.

You must revoke your consent to the processing of your personal data directly to the public or non-public body to which you previously gave your consent.

If you wish to withdraw your consent in writing by post or require general information, please contact the authority responsible for you with your questions.

You can withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data online or in writing.

Withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data online:

- Call up the online form on the state portal. This will guide you step by step through the necessary information, which you can enter electronically.

- Note: You must provide proof of your identity for the online form. To do this, you must upload a copy of your identity card or passport to the online service together with a copy of your registration certificate or send it to the authorities by post.

- Upload any required documents as a file (in the file formats PDF, DOC, JPEG, PNG, maximum 10 megabytes per file) and send the form. Alternatively, you can also submit the required documents by post.

- The public body will usually send you a corresponding response by e-mail or, at your request, by post to your registration address.

Revoke your consent to the processing of your personal data in writing:

- You can declare your revocation informally.

- Send your revocation by post to the public authority together with any necessary documents.

The public body will send you a corresponding reply by post to your registration address.

The processing of your personal data must be terminated immediately after receipt of your revocation, i.e. without culpable delay on the part of the body processing the data.

There are no deadlines.

Only if the processing of the data is based (exclusively) on consent as a legal basis must the processing body stop processing after receiving the withdrawal. However, if there is (additionally) another legal basis for the data processing, this legal consequence does not apply.

There are no generally applicable legal remedies.
