Contaminated sites are old deposits and old sites that can or are expected to pose a risk to the environment, especially to human health. These can be: e.g. abandoned or disused disposal sites for municipal or commercial waste (old landfills) or disused plants and operating areas (old sites) where environmentally hazardous substances have been handled.

In order to know whether there is a suspected contaminated site or contaminated site on a property, information from the contaminated site register can be requested from the competent authority.

• Proof of ownership (copy of excerpt from the land register)
• Power of attorney of the property owner
• Power of attorney or copy of the order from the court or authority
• if available: field map excerpt or location map
• Information on the district, field and parcel
• other evidence of a legitimate interest

Fees are charged for the written information depending on the effort. As a rule, information is provided in writing.

Telephone or verbal information is free of charge.

Deadlines may have to be observed. Please contact the competent authority.

The responsibility lies with the district and the district-free city.
