If you want to discharge commercial-industrial wastewater into a public wastewater plant or sewerage system, you usually need a permit.
If you want to discharge wastewater into a public wastewater plant, you will need a permit. Under certain conditions, the permit requirement does not apply.
For certain industries and activities (such as the chemical industry, paper production, metal processing, cooling water use), pollutants are to be expected in wastewater that are not sufficiently cleaned in a municipal wastewater treatment plant. Requirements for this are laid down in the industry-specific annexes to the Wastewater Ordinance.
In order to comply with these requirements, special measures and wastewater pretreatment plants are required to reduce the pollutant load in such a way that the wastewater can then be cleaned without damage in a public wastewater treatment plant.
Application
The other documents required depend on the wastewater (e.g. industrial wastewater or commercial wastewater) that is to be discharged into the public wastewater system. You can obtain more detailed information from the responsible office.
If necessary:
Information on the production of the initial operation
Information about the wastewater produced, the sewers and the planned pre-treatment plants
The permit may only be granted if:
the requirements of the Wastewater Ordinance applicable to wastewater are complied with,
the public wastewater treatment plant can adequately treat the wastewater, and
the wastewater is pre-treated during the discharge operation, if necessary, in such a way that the preceding conditions are met.
You can apply for a permit to discharge wastewater into public wastewater plants at the competent authority.
You fill out the application documents and submit them with all the necessary documents.
The competent authority will examine your application.
If all the necessary requirements are met, your application can be approved.
You will receive a permit to discharge wastewater into public wastewater plants
Changes
- at the property drainage system,
- the wastewater conditions on which the drainage permit is based, or
- at the connection to the wastewater system
require a change permit. Information is provided by the competent authority.
The discharge of collected rainwater directly into an above-ground body of water and the infiltration of rainwater require a permit under water law (direct discharger permit).
Discharge of wastewater into public wastewater treatment plants Permit
the discharge of commercial-industrial wastewater into public wastewater treatment plants usually requires official approval
however, under certain conditions, a permit is not required
Special regulations for wastewater in which pollutants are to be assumed can be found in the annexes to the industry-specific wastewater ordinances
Application from the competent authority
Request the necessary documents from the competent authority
Responsibility lies with the municipality, the joint municipality and the city.
If necessary, a connection to the municipal sewer system is required due to the municipal statutes. In these cases, too, the competent authority should be contacted.
