Handwerksrolle Eintragung durch Erteilung einer Ausübungsberechtigung nach § 7a HwO

Do you have a license to practice another craft requiring a license as a standing trade or for experienced journeymen or journeywomen? If so, you must have this entered in the Register of Craftsmen before taking up the activity.

Without a master craftsman's examination, the applicant or the farm manager may receive a right to exercise according to §7a Handwerksordnung (HwO) by the competent authority. In addition, the granting of an exemption could be considered.

• Certificate of journeyman's examination/skilled worker examination
• Certificate of the master craftsman's examination
• Certificates or certificates of other courses and examinations (e.g. final examination at university or university of applied sciences, technician, industrial foreman, specialist courses and courses)
• Proof of the knowledge and skills required to exercise

• Anyone who already operates a craft subject to authorisation can obtain authorisation to practise another craft subject to authorisation or for essential activities of this trade if:
  • the knowledge and skills required for this purpose are demonstrated. Previous professional experience and activities are taken into account.

Fees are charged in accordance with the scale of fees of the competent authority.

You can apply for entry in the Register of Craftsmen in writing or, in some cases, online at your local Chamber of Crafts. Please obtain information about the procedure from the relevant Chamber of Skilled Crafts. You can also have the necessary documents sent to you.

• Submit your application documents to your local Chamber of Skilled Crafts.
• The Chamber of Skilled Crafts will check your application for completeness and, based on your authorization to practice, whether it corresponds to the craft you wish to practice.
• If you meet the registration requirements, you will be notified in advance of the expected registration.
• Once you have been registered, you will receive a written certificate from your local Chamber of Skilled Crafts. Your business will receive the so-called craftsman's card.
• If registration is refused, you will receive a notification from the local Chamber of Skilled Crafts.

For the independent operation of a craft subject to licensing, a right to exercise according to §7a Handwerksordnung (HwO) can be granted without a master craftsman's examination.
