Eintragung in die Architektenliste des Landes Brandenburg mit Abschlüssen aus dem Ausland beantragen

Further information on the registration procedure can be obtained from the office of the Brandenburg Chamber of Architects.

The professional title "architect", "interior architect", "garden and landscape architect", "urban planner" or "town planner" may only be used by those who are entered in the list of architects of the State Chamber of Architects under the corresponding title.

With verification of the certificate of qualification:

• Certified copy of the university certificate and the university diploma (or an equivalent educational institution within the meaning of § 4 BbgArchG)
• Official translation of the aforementioned documents
• Proof of the standard period of study for Bachelor's and Master's degrees
• Determination of equivalence of the educational qualification
• Proof of two years of professional experience in the subject area applied for since graduation (employer references, project table, project descriptions including photos and plans in A4);
• The requirements for proof of practical experience may vary depending on where the applicant has worked; details in Section 4 (3) BbgArchG.
• University degrees that differ significantly from the requirements of a German degree can be adjusted by means of so-called equalization measures; details in § 4 (4) and (5) BbgArchG.
• Proof of further training in each of the subject areas:
  • Public building law
  • Private building law
  • Building practice
  • Economic efficiency of planning and construction
  • Management and communication
• Proof of employment contract for salaried work or salaried work in the public sector
• Proof of sufficient professional liability insurance for freelance or commercial work in accordance with §10 ArchG
• Certificate of registration of main residence in the state of Brandenburg or proof of predominant employment in the state of Brandenburg
• Copy of payment receipt

Without verification of proof of qualification for persons who were previously entered in a list of architects (Section 4 (6) BbgArchG):

• Proof of sufficient professional liability insurance for freelance or commercial work
• Certificate of registration of main residence in the state of Brandenburg or proof of place of business/branch office in the state of Brandenburg or proof of predominant employment in the state of Brandenburg
• Copy of payment receipt

In accordance with § 4 Para. 1 BbgArchG, a person is entered in the list of architects who

• is qualified to fulfill the professional duties as an architect in the respective discipline in accordance with § 3 BbgArchG and
• has their main place of residence in the state of Brandenburg or has their main place of business or their predominant professional occupation in the state of Brandenburg.
• has successfully completed a course of study corresponding to the respective specialization with a standard period of study of at least four years at a German university, college, university of applied sciences or equivalent educational institution in accordance with the guidelines on training content set out in the annex to this regulation,
• has subsequently completed at least two years of practical work in the respective field and
• in the case of freelance or commercial work for third parties, has professional liability insurance in accordance with § 10 BbgArchG.

Application fee for entry in the list of architects: € 205.00
Fee for notarization and round stamp: € 65.00

Registration takes place upon application. The Chamber of Architects confirms receipt of the documents and certificates to the applicant within one month and informs the applicant of any missing documents and certificates. A decision on the application will be made within three months of receipt of the complete documents.

The registration committee decides on the entry in the list of architects. The registration committee consists of the chairperson and the required number of assessors. The registration committee decides in the composition of the chairperson or their deputy and four assessors, of which at least two assessors must belong to the applicant's discipline.

If the professional qualification of the applicant within the meaning of Article 14 paragraph 1 of Directive 2005/36/EC differs significantly from the registration requirements in accordance with paragraph 1, the applicant may be required to take compensatory measures in the form of an adaptation period of no more than three years or an aptitude test in order to compensate for significant deviations in the training content in accordance with paragraph 1 sentence 1. If the evidence of formal qualifications corresponds to the professional qualification level of Article 11 letter a of Directive 2005/36/EC, the Chamber of Architects may refuse registration. In the cases referred to in Article 11(b) of Directive 2005/36/EC and in the field of architecture, the applicant's skills shall be verified by means of an aptitude test. Otherwise, the applicant may choose between attending an adaptation period or an aptitude test (Section 4 (4) BbgArchG).

Entry in the list of architects is made without examination of the qualifications if a deletion from the list of architects did not take place more than two years ago and there are no grounds for refusal.

Information on legal remedies is provided in writing if an application is rejected. Reference is made to the possibility of appealing against the decision issued.
