The consultation is confidential, anonymous and free of charge.
Topics of the consultation can be, for example:
- Routes of transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (gonorrhea, syphilis, hepatitis...)
- Safer Sex Rules
- Risk assessment
- HIV antibody test - necessity, procedure, waiting periods
- Risks in the field of prostitution
- Risks of contagion in the medical field
- Risks of contagion in everyday life
- AIDS anxiety
- Dealing with positive test results
- Living with HIV
- Possibilities of drug prevention (PEP and PrEP)
The consultation can be given in person or by telephone.
If necessary, prior appointment (no obligation), detailed consultation, test, after the laboratory result is available, the result is communicated and, if necessary, a renewed consultation and mediation for medical and therapeutic treatment
Documentation of consultation, testing and results and, if necessary, reporting to the RKI: approx. 30 minutes per case
After a high-risk contact, such as after unprotected sex , it takes about six weeks – depending on the test procedure – before an HIV infection can be ruled out with certainty. This is also related to the course of the infection, because only when the HI virus spreads in the body, it comes to a detectable immune response to the infection.
Transmission of non-named reports to the RKI (laboratory reporting obligation according to § 7 Abs. 3 IfSG)
