The compensation for disadvantages applies to students who are pregnant, students with children or relatives in need of care, as well as students with disabilities and chronic or mental impairments.
Compensation for disadvantages is intended to create equal opportunities for all students. This compensates for disadvantages. This applies, on the one hand, to the implementation of your studies and, on the other hand, to all certificates of achievement during your studies:
- Retreats
- Presentations
- orals
- Chores
- Reports and
- Theses.
The compensation for disadvantages will be agreed individually between you and the university.
- Application to the chairperson of the responsible examination board of the respective department
- Proof of impairment (e.g. medical certificate, severely disabled person's ID, care level notice, maternity record, birth certificate of the child)
You can apply for compensation for disadvantages due to:
- prolonged illness
- physical impairment
- Handicap
- Dyslexia
- Pregnancy
- Maternity protection
- Caring for a child in your own household
- Illness/disability of a close relative (e.g. children, parents, grandparents, spouses and partners in a non-marital community)
You can apply for compensation for disadvantages at your university at any time. As a rule, the examination board of the respective subjects is responsible.
Since the compensation for disadvantages is always agreed individually, you should have an interview with the university before submitting your application. In this interview, you can explain in which areas you are impaired and in what form disadvantage compensation should be made.
It is also advisable to submit the application before a review, because your application cannot be approved retroactively. This also means that you cannot contest an examination if you submit the application afterwards.
Hint:
The assessment of the respective facts and the design of appropriate measures depends crucially on the individual case.
