State schools can use their available school budget for the project weeks as part of the "Everyday Skills - School for Life" concept.

As part of the concept, the entire school family works together on an interdisciplinary basis and with qualified external partners. In terms of content, "Everyday Skills - School for Life" covers the entire area of everyday skills and life economy with the fields of health, nutrition, household management, self-determined consumer behavior, environmental behavior and digital action.

The schools are provided with state funding for the activities carried out as part of the project weeks. These are earmarked for the fees of external partners and specialists, for travel costs for pupils to extracurricular learning locations as part of classroom visits and excursions and for material costs (materials, food, etc.). The schools' budgets are managed by the respective governments.

The budget of the individual school per school year for the implementation of a project week is calculated by multiplying the number of classes in grades 1 to 4 or 5 to 9 by 100 euros. In the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 school years, the budget for an individual school per school year for the implementation of two project weeks is calculated by multiplying the number of classes in grades 1 to 4 or 5 to 9 by 130 euros. For small schools (with up to six classes), a basic amount of 700 euros is provided in the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 school years for one project week and 910 euros for two project weeks. The school management decides on the use of funds.

• The school organizes one or two project week(s) for students in grades 1 to 4 and in grades 5 to 9. If two project weeks are carried out, they must be carried out in two different grades.
• The school decides in which grade(s) the project week(s) will be carried out.
• The project week(s) will be carried out over five consecutive days or as part of multi-day project modules (divided into a two-day and a three-day project block).

For the implementation of the project weeks, the involvement of qualified external experts and extracurricular learning locations is recommended, e.g. in the form of cooperation with farms, initiatives for sustainability and environmental protection or health education campaigns. Programs such as "Erlebnis Bauernhof", "Landfrauen machen Schule", "Ernährung macht Schule", "Wissen wie's wächst und schmeckt", "Partnerschule Verbraucherbildung", "Umweltschule in Europa" or "Landesprogramm für die gute, gesunde Schule Bayern" can be integrated.

Overview of the procedure at state schools:

1. Planning the project week(s) by the school
2. Implementation of the project week(s) (preferably on five consecutive days, alternatively divided into a two-day and a three-day project block) in all classes of one (or optionally two) grade(s) determined by the school management (grades 1 to 4 or grades 5 to 9)
3. After receipt of the invoice(s):
   • Prompt data entry into the survey in the Bavarian school portal
   • Upload the scanned invoice(s) to the survey in the Bavarian school portal with a mandatory note on factual and mathematical accuracy and the signature of the school management
   • Save and send to the government
4. Data retrieval by the responsible government and payment of the invoice(s) to the payee by 30.11., 31.01., 31.03., 31.05., 31.08. at the latest (Notes: With KMS dated 28.10.2024 (Ref: VIII.3-BS4400.28/148/4) the deadline for submitting invoices was extended to 31.01. of the following year).

The project week(s) must be completed by the end of July of each school year. Invoices must be submitted by January 31 of the following year at the latest.

Please note the different procedures for state and non-state schools (municipal schools and private alternative schools) before you plan and carry out the project weeks and call up your available budget. This will help you to avoid possible inquiries from the government and delays in the payment of invoices.

The implementation of a project week in the course of years 1 to 4 and in the course of years 5 to 9 is mandatory for state schools. The project week concept does not have to be submitted to the school supervisory authority in advance, nor does it have to be approved.
