The college leads adults to a general higher education entrance qualification in two, three or four years.
Lessons at the college mainly take place between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.; it is not possible to work on a regular basis. Funding through Bafög is generally possible if the relevant requirements are met. There are different language sequences. The choice of subjects and teaching methods take into account the previous education, maturity and professional experience of the adult students. In the preliminary course and in Year I, lessons are taught according to a fixed timetable. In years II and III, lessons are largely taught according to the system of the qualification phase of the upper secondary school.
Admission requirements for year I:
- Completed vocational training or regular employment of at least two years
- Minimum age of 18 years in the school year of registration
- Secondary school leaving certificate or successful completion of the preliminary course (see below) or successful completion of an entrance examination
- Passing a probationary period
The following applies:
- Running a family household is equivalent to a professional activity.
- Periods of military and civilian service, periods of development service, voluntary social or ecological year and proven unemployment can be taken into account.
In particular, applicants without a secondary school leaving certificate can be admitted to the preliminary course of the college if they have completed vocational training or have at least two years of professional experience and are at least 17 years old. Final admission is subject to passing a probationary period.
