You can apply for recognition of a continuing education certificate from the EU or the EEA and the award of the corresponding German designation
If you have acquired a certificate of further training in a state of the European Union or the European Economic Area or in a state to which Germany and the European Union have granted a corresponding legal entitlement, within the meaning of Article 27 in conjunction with Article 50 of the Bavarian Chamber of Health Professions Act, this can be recognized under certain circumstances and the corresponding German title recognized in accordance with the further training regulations in Bavaria. Article 50 of the Bavarian Healthcare Professions Chamber Act, this can be recognized under certain circumstances and the corresponding German designation can be awarded in accordance with the further training regulations for veterinarians in Bavaria.
You can submit the application to the Bavarian State Chamber of Veterinarians on the basis of EU Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications in conjunction with Section 20 of the Further Training Regulations for Veterinarians in Bavaria.
The Bavarian State Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons checks the equivalence of the level of further training. The level of further training is to be regarded as equivalent if your further training does not show any significant differences compared to the further training according to the further training regulations for veterinarians in Bavaria in the applicable version.
If significant differences are identified, these can be fully or partially compensated by knowledge, experience and skills that you have acquired as part of your professional practice in an EU member state, an EEA state, a contracting state or a third country.
If the significant differences are not compensated for by your professional experience, you can choose between an adaptation period of no more than three years or an aptitude test. The examination may cover the knowledge, experience and skills in which there are significant differences.
- The application shall be accompanied by:
- Licensing certificate - uncertified copy
- Diploma/certificate of basic veterinary training - in original language with German translation by an officially sworn translator
- if applicable, doctoral certificate - in original language with German translation by an officially sworn translator
- if applicable, summary of the dissertation (if subject-related) - in original language with German translation by an officially sworn translator
- Diploma/recognition/certificate of completed further training - in original language with German translation by an officially sworn translator
- Curriculum of the completed further training course - in original language with German translation by an officially sworn translator
- If required by the Bavarian Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons, further documents may be required.
- Veterinary license
- Membership of a district veterinary association in Bavaria
- Proof of further training from the territory of the EU, the EEA or a contracting state
The fees are charged on a time and material basis in accordance with the administrative fee regulations of the Bavarian State Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons.
A minimum fee of EUR 200.00 must be paid when submitting the application.
The maximum fee is EUR 300.00.
The application must be submitted in writing to the Bavarian State Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons together with the necessary supporting documents (see "Required documents").
