The health department is your contact point for notifiable diseases or pathogens.
If you are affected, the health department will contact you.
The goal of infection control is to protect you and others from contagious diseases. It's about detecting diseases early, preventing their spread, and preventing infections.
The health department is responsible for reporting notifiable diseases or pathogens. If you are affected, the health department will contact you.
We'll identify the source of infection and discuss measures to stop the spread of the disease with you. You'll also receive advice on hygiene rules that will help protect others.
If necessary, the health authority can impose measures such as a ban on visiting community facilities or a ban on working in certain professions to prevent the spread of a disease.
The health department is also available to provide you with advice and information, for example on:
- Preventing the spread of diseases
- Preventive measures
- Hygiene issues, for example in hospitals
- vaccinations
- Typically, the treating physician or the responsible laboratory will report the notifiable disease or pathogen directly to the responsible authority. However, there are also situations in which you may be required to report it yourself, for example, if you work as the head of a community facility (e.g., kindergarten or school) and a case becomes known.
- If you are affected by such a disease or pathogen, the responsible authority will contact you.
- The responsible authority will discuss the next steps with you and advise you.
