You may receive congratulations from public authorities on certain birthdays or wedding anniversaries.
An anniversary is the celebration of a special wedding anniversary or birthday that you celebrate after a set number of years. On these occasions, you can be honored by a public body.
You can receive a congratulatory letter from the First Mayor on your 90th birthday and your 101st to 104th birthday. You can receive a congratulatory letter from the Federal President on your 100th, 105th and every subsequent birthday.
On these anniversaries of your marriage or registered civil partnership you can receive the following honours:

On these anniversaries of your marriage or registered civil partnership you can receive the following honours:
- 50 and 60 years: Congratulatory letter from the First Mayor and the First Mayoress as well as wedding anniversary medal
- 65, 70, 75 years: Congratulatory letters from the First Mayor and the Federal President
- 80 years: Congratulatory letter from the Federal President
- Age anniversary: You turn 90 or 100 years old, or older.
- Wedding anniversary: You have been married for 50, 60, 65, 70, 75 or 80 years or are living in a registered civil partnership.
The responsible authorities usually identify upcoming anniversaries automatically and will contact you regarding the award.
You will receive your award on time for your anniversary. You may have to expect a delay of a few days.
If there is a transmission or information block regarding your registration data, the responsible authority may not be able to automatically determine your upcoming anniversaries.
- Age anniversaries:
- 90th, 101st - 104th birthday: Congratulatory letter from the First Mayor
- 100th, 105th and every subsequent birthday: Congratulatory letter from the Federal President
- wedding anniversaries:
- 50 and 60 years: Congratulatory letter from the First Mayor and the First Mayoress as well as wedding anniversary medal
