The processing time depends on the scope of the project applied for and the type of procedure chosen and can take 1-3 months after the required documents have been submitted in full.

When applying for a building permit, you can choose between the simplified procedure and the concentrated procedure. With the simplified procedure, it is your responsibility to obtain any additional permits required from other authorities. You are responsible for ensuring compliance with all legal aspects of building regulations and ancillary building law. If you want to have everything from a single source, you should choose the concentrated procedure.
If you have any doubts about the fundamental permitability of your construction project, you can have these clarified early on with a preliminary building permit. However, this only answers specific questions and does not replace the required building permit.
Advice outside of ongoing approval procedures is subject to a fee.
In Hamburg, all applications for the following procedures must be submitted via the online service "Building Application 2.0" starting January 1, 2024. Paper applications are no longer possible.
