- The previous license plate number can only be used if it was reserved for this purpose when the vehicle was deregistered. If the license plate number was not reserved during deregistration, or if the vehicle is re-registered to a different owner, a new license plate number must be applied for.
- If the keeper and owner of the vehicle are not the same person, the LBV must be informed of the name to whom the vehicle is to be registered. This applies, for example, to leased vehicles.
- If a general inspection, emissions test or safety inspection was due between the deregistration and re-registration of the vehicle, this must be carried out before the vehicle is re-registered.
- If the details of the last vehicle owner have changed in the meantime, they will also be updated upon re-registration. This is the case, for example, if you have moved or if you purchased a deregistered used vehicle.
- If the last vehicle and owner data have already been deleted from the Central Vehicle Register (7 years after deregistration) and the data can no longer be verified otherwise, a report from an officially recognized expert is required.
- Journeys related to the registration process can also be made with assigned, unsealed license plates if the insurance covers this. Such journeys include journeys for the main inspection (TÜV) and to the registration authority. These journeys are limited to the registration district and neighboring registration districts.
