If you want to transport passengers commercially, you need a passenger transport license. This includes the following journeys:

• Taxis
• Rental cars or cars in scheduled services or bundled on-demand transport
• Rental car or car for commercial excursions and holiday destinations
• Ambulances if you transport people for a fee or commercially

You need a permit to transport passengers in addition to your driver's license. You must apply for the permit. If you have a Class D driver's license, you do not need one. separate driving license for passenger transport.

• a valid identity card or an electronic residence permit (eAT) or passport with a current confirmation of registration
• a German EU card driving license (issued after 19 January 2013; older driving licenses must be exchanged beforehand)
• an ophthalmological report in accordance with Annex 6.2 of the Driving Licence Ordinance (FeV), not older than two years
• a medical report in accordance with Annex 5.1 FeV, not older than one year
• a medical report in accordance with Annex 5.2 FeV, not older than one year (occupational or company physician)
• a certificate of good conduct that is not older than three months at the time of application (feature O for official purposes, to be applied for at the registration authority)
• the appointment confirmation

• Proof of participation in a first aid training course

• You have the necessary personal reliability.
• You have the necessary physical and mental fitness.
• You have sufficient eyesight.
• You have a German Class B driving license in the format of the new EU card driving license (issued from January 19, 2013).
  • If your driver's license was issued before this date, you must exchange it beforehand. You must also exchange a foreign driver's license beforehand.
• You have your main residence in Hamburg.
• You are at least 21 years old. (The minimum age for ambulance drivers is 19.)
• You have held a Class B driving licence for at least 2 years within the last 5 years (one year is sufficient for ambulances)

• You book an appointment online.
• You bring all the necessary documents with you.
• The application will be completed during your appointment and your request will be processed on site.
• If all necessary documents are available and the requirements are met, your driver's license for passenger transport will be issued to you immediately.

• Ambulances of the Bundeswehr, the Federal Police, the police as well as the troops and civilian entourage of the other states party to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO),
• Ambulances of the civil protection service, if they are used for this purpose,
• Ambulances of the fire departments and rescue services recognized under state law.

You can find occupational and company physicians for the examination in accordance with Annex 5 FeV through the Medical Association.

• You visit the website of the State Office for Transport to book an appointment (see link below).
• Select the category: Driving license
• Then select: Application for passenger transport ticket
• Follow the steps below to reserve an appointment. You can apply at the LBV Central and North locations.
• You will receive an email. Confirm your reserved appointment using the link in the email.
• You will receive an appointment confirmation. Please bring it with you to your appointment.

• Driving license for passenger transport (passenger transport license)
• Necessary for commercial passenger transport.
• With a Class D driving licence, no separate driving licence is required for passenger transport
