If you have been diagnosed with a degree of disability of at least 50, you can apply for a severely disabled person's pass. If your severely disabled person's pass expires or you have lost it, you can apply for a new one.
If you have been diagnosed with a degree of disability of at least 50, you can apply for a severely disabled person's pass.
If you are a severely disabled person from a non-EU country whose residence permit is limited, the severely disabled person's pass can only be issued as long as your residence permit is valid.
With the severely disabled person's ID card, you can prove that you are a severely disabled person and also claim certain rights and corresponding compensation for disadvantages, depending on the type of entry in the ID card. Examples of compensation for disadvantages include:
If the card expires, is lost or other important data changes, you must apply for a new one.
If you are a severely disabled person from a non-EU country whose residence permit is limited, the severely disabled person's pass can only be issued as long as your residence permit is valid.

If the card expires, is lost or other important data changes, you must apply for a new one.

If you submit an application for recognition of a disability to the responsible authority, you will automatically be issued with a severely disabled person's ID card if the degree of disability is determined to be at least 50, provided that they already have a passport photo of you.
If this is not the case,
To have it issued, you must send a passport photo of yourself to the responsible authority. The responsible authority will check the requirements for issuing the severely disabled person's ID card.
If the requirements are met, the authority will issue a (new) severely disabled person’s ID card and send it to you.
If this is not the case,
- but you already have a determination notice or a corresponding administrative or court decision with a degree of disability of at least 50
- or if your existing disability card is lost, damaged or expires,
To have it issued, you must send a passport photo of yourself to the responsible authority. The responsible authority will check the requirements for issuing the severely disabled person's ID card.
If the requirements are met, the authority will issue a (new) severely disabled person’s ID card and send it to you.
There are no application deadlines.
The severely disabled person's pass is issued for a limited period of up to five years or indefinitely, depending on the chance of improvement in your health condition.

On the back of the passport photo you must write your name and date of birth, as well as the reference number of the office that issues the severely disabled person’s ID card.

- Severely disabled people from non-EU countries with a temporary residence permit only receive the ID card for the duration of the residence permit.

- The basic colour of the card is green; certain symbols also have an orange print on the card, which allows free transport. A valid token is also required.
