Issuance of electronic certificates of origin and other certificates serving foreign trade

The certificate of origin plays a role for you in the application of preferential tariffs and anti-dumping measures or serves you for price control, the monitoring of import restrictions and similar purposes. The certificate of origin is a clear proof of the commercial origin of goods issued by an independent body. In the international movement of goods, proof of origin often serves you well
to meet government requirements of the receiving country:

• control of the flow of goods
• implementation of anti-dumping measures
• Monitoring of import restrictions and import quotas
• to fulfill private law obligations:
• in individual cases to claim customs reductions
• Proof of origin as part of export credit insurance (Hermes guarantees)
• Conducting price and quality controls
• customer request
• letter of credit

As a rule, the destination country decides for you whether a certificate of origin is necessary. The document is issued electronically and can be printed out in your own company.

If the application shows that the goods were manufactured "in another company", proof of origin must be submitted when the application is submitted, which clearly shows the origin of the goods:

• Certificate of origin from the pre-supplier
• Supplier declarations
• Manufacturer invoices, delivery notes or other business papers from manufacturers in the European Union if these show that the goods were manufactured in-house.

Please ask the Hamburg Chamber of Crafts whether you need to submit additional documents.

Upon request, the Hamburg Chamber of Crafts will issue you with the certificates of origin required for foreign trade and/or other certificates serving foreign trade. For this it is necessary that you have your company headquarters, your place of business or your place of residence in the district of the Hamburg Chamber of Crafts and that the goods are at least ready for dispatch in the customs area of the European Union or are being dispatched. Blank certificates of origin cannot be issued to you.

Registration can be done within minutes. The documents are usually issued within office hours on the same day.

Electronically issued certificates of origin and certified documents are usually recognized. An exception is the Federal Office of Administration (BVA).
If companies use the eUZ application, they still have the option of requesting certificates of origin and commercial documents in paper form.
Documents to be certified must be uploaded in PDF format.
The display of the eUZ can vary depending on the browser.
