Does your company want to install, maintain, maintain, repair or shut down systems with fluorinated greenhouse gases, as well as check for leaks or recover the gases? Then you need certification from the responsible body.

Does your company want to install, maintain, service, repair or decommission stationary refrigeration systems, air conditioning systems, heat pumps or fire protection equipment that contain fluorinated greenhouse gases, as well as check them for leaks or recover the gases? Then you need a certificate for your company, which you can apply for from the responsible authority.
The certificate includes at least the following information:

• the name of the certification body, the full name of the holder, the issue number and, if applicable, the expiry date,
• the activities which the holder of the certificate is authorised to carry out, specifying the maximum load in kg and the facilities concerned,
• the date of issue and the signature of the person authorized to issue the document.

As a registered EMAS company, you can also apply for the certificate from the responsible body.

You will receive the certificate for your company in Hamburg from the competent authority if

• Your company employs a sufficient number of certified natural persons necessary to cover the expected volume of activities and
• Your company provides evidence that all necessary tools and procedures are accessible.

As a registered EMAS company, you can receive the certificate if the environmental statement or the report on the environmental audit shows that

• that the above conditions are met,
• name and registered office of the company,
• designation of the location,
• certified activities related to the site and its facilities,
• Designation of the competent authority, date and signature

The costs for the certification are based on the time required, according to the general administrative cost regulations in connection with the administrative cost regulations of the business area.

You submit a written or electronic application for company certification to the competent authority.
The responsible authority will examine your application.
If necessary, the responsible authority will request further application documents from you.
The responsible authority will decide on your application.
You will receive a notice or certificate from the responsible authority.

Your company needs the certification before you start the related processes and activities.

There must be sufficient skilled personnel for the installation, maintenance or servicing of systems. It must also have access to the tools and procedures required for the activities requiring certification.
For activities related to fire protection systems and fire extinguishers, there must be sufficient personnel with appropriate certificates of expertise available for the expected annual volume of activities and the required technical equipment must be sufficiently available in terms of type and number.
The responsible body for issuing certificates of expertise for your staff in Hamburg is the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

As a registered EMAS company with an environmental declaration or environmental audit report, you can also apply for certification.

• to carry out certain activities:
  • Leakage control, gas recovery, installation, repair, servicing, maintenance or decommissioning
  • from facilities containing fluorinated greenhouse gases and
  • by companies that carry out these activities in connection with refrigeration systems, air conditioning systems or heat pumps for third parties
• Requirements:
  • The company employs a sufficient number of certified natural persons necessary to cover the expected volume of activity,
  • Company provides evidence that all necessary tools and procedures are accessible
• also registered EMAS companies with environmental statement or environmental audit report
