If you want to sell forest reproductive material, you must apply for approval for your reproductive material in advance.
You may only bring forest reproductive material onto the market if the source material has the appropriate approval. For approval, the trees or forest areas from which the starting material comes are checked using a comprehensive catalog of criteria and, if the required standards are achieved, are approved for the production of reproductive material.

The minimum requirements set out in the appendices to the Forest Reproductive Materials Approval Ordinance apply to approval. It's only allowed
- Crop stocks under the "Selected" category,
- Seed orchards under the Qualified category and
- Crop stocks, seed orchards, family parents, clones and clone mixes under the "Verified" category
- You submit an informal, written application to the responsible authority.
- You attach the necessary documents to the application.
- The suitability of the starting material or the propagating material is checked.
- Approval will be issued to you by the responsible authority in a written notice after the suitability of your starting material or propagating material has been determined.
The processing time depends on the individual case. However, a processing time of at least 6 months is to be expected.
