Have you passed your first state examination and would like to apply for admission to the legal traineeship? Learn more here.
If you have passed the first legal exam, you can start the legal traineeship. The aim of the legal traineeship is to train you to practice the traditional legal profession. You will complete 4 compulsory stations and two optional stations. The preparatory service generally lasts 2 years.
It ends with the second legal state examination. During the preparatory service you are a legal trainee.

- Proof of passing the first legal exam
- a certified photocopy of the de-registration certificate (for law)
- a handwritten and signed curriculum vitae
- a birth certificate
- if necessary, further civil status documents in the original
- for married applicants: a certified copy of the excerpt from the family book
- if applicable, a certified copy of the certificate of length of service
- Certificate of good conduct (document type "O")
- for foreign nationals: a valid residence permit
If you would like to start the legal traineeship, you must first apply for it.
- Submit the application together with all necessary documents to the competent authority.
- Be sure to meet the deadline.
- You will be offered an internship position. You must accept this within a period of time. Otherwise this position will be reassigned.
If all information and documents are available, you will receive an answer within a few days to a maximum of 2 weeks.
Recruitment takes place on February 1st, April 1st, June 1st, August 1st, October 1st and December 1st of each year. Your application must be submitted no later than 2 months before the start.
