If you wish to make a change to a facility for which you have not yet applied for approval, you must notify the responsible authority.

If you plan to make a change to the location, condition or operation of a facility that requires approval, you must notify the responsible authority. This also applies to changes that are relevant to a major accident or if you intend to cease operations.

You must attach to the notification all the documents that may be necessary to check whether the project requires approval.

The planned changes to the facility appear to have only minor adverse effects and do not require approval.

If the competent authority considers that a permit is necessary, an authorisation procedure must be carried out in accordance with Section 10 of the Federal Immission Control Act.

Fees apply. The amount of the fee depends on the investment amount or processing effort.

• They shall attach to the notification the necessary documents to the extent that these may be necessary for the examination as to whether the project requires approval.

• After receiving your notification, the applicant will inform you immediately of any additional documents it requires to assess your requirements.
• If necessary, the competent authority decides that your project requires a permit. The authority will inform you of its decision within one month.
• You may implement the change as soon as the competent authority informs you that the change does not require approval or if the competent authority has not commented within one month after the notification documents have been completed.
• If you make a change that is relevant to a major accident, you may only make the change once the responsible authority informs you that no approval is required.

The processing time is 1 month from the time the complete documents are received by the responsible authority.
In the case of changes relevant to incidents, the processing time is 2 months from the time the complete documentation is received by the responsible authority.

Notify the responsible authority of any planned changes to your facility requiring approval at least one month before they are implemented. Notify any changes that are relevant to a major accident at least two months before they are implemented.

Notification is only required if the change may affect the protected assets listed in Section 1 of the Federal Immission Control Act.
