If you want to change a discharge from a small sewage treatment plant for which you have a water law permit, you must apply to the responsible authority for a permit change.
If you want to discharge pre-treated wastewater from a small sewage treatment plant into a body of water, you need a water law permit.
If you would like to change a project for which you have a water law permit, you must apply to the responsible authority for a permit change.
A small sewage treatment plant is a wastewater treatment plant from which less than eight cubic metres of wastewater from households and similar wastewater are discharged per day.
The wastewater from the small sewage treatment plant can seep into the ground or be discharged into a surface water body.
Surface waters include rivers, lakes, canals, streams, ditches and ponds.
The permit specifies the type and extent of use. It may be subject to conditions and ancillary provisions. In contrast to an authorization, a permit can be revoked by the authorities.

- The responsible authority will check the completeness of your application and documents and will contact you if any information or documents are missing.
- The responsible body will examine your application from a water management and water law perspective and, if necessary, involve other bodies.
- You will receive a change of permit or a rejection notice
- You will also receive a fee notice.
- You pay the fee.
The processing time depends in particular on the quality and scope of your application and the documents.
There is no legal deadline. Apply for the change of permit well in advance of the planned change.
