Freimarkt - Standplatz Erteilung

Places are coveted for participation in Bremen's major folk festivals, the Freimarkt, Osterwiese and Weihnachtsmarkt. Timely registration is required.

The open-air market takes place on Bürgerweide, Willy-Brandt-Platz, Bahnhofsvorplatz, Kastanienwäldchen, Grasmarkt and Marktplatz.

Opening hours:

• Bürgerweide:
  - Sunday to Thursday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  - Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to midnight
  - market activity is allowed to "wind down" another half hour after the end of each day.
• On the other squares:
  - according to the respective opening hours of the stores

• Ferris wheels up to 250 sqm total area

• Gambling stores (slot machines, general gambling)
• other pubs with predominantly seated or stand-up pubs
• Toy, pottery and household goods sales
• Vending stores (incl. showman's supplies)

• The application deadline is November 30 of the previous year

Applications must be submitted via the online portal (link under "Further information" - "Online service" - "Market application") or by post. The application form can be found under "Further information" - "Forms" - "Market application form".

• Late applications will not be considered and will not take part in the remaining space allocation procedure. Applications received by the deadline that were not included in the first selection will be considered for the remaining places.

The Bremer Freimarkt is a "people's festival" (according to § 60 b of the trade regulations). Therefore, every applicant is basically allowed to participate in the festival. However, the organizer is authorized to exclude individual applicants from participation for objectively justified reasons. This applies in particular if the available space is insufficient.

Due to the limited space, only about a quarter of the annual average of about 1200 applications will be considered for admission. The selection is intended to ensure that the character of the folk festival is preserved and that the expectations of the public are met. Furthermore, the quality and variety of the offer should also be guaranteed. To this end, stores of the highest possible quality are selected from the sectors usually represented at folk festivals.
