Since 01.10.2017, it has been possible to recommission vehicles subject to registration to the same owner online as part of the 2nd stage i-Kfz. The Bremen registration authority provides an online portal for this purpose.

After a successful application, the registration authority issues the new registration certificate part I as well as the seal sticker(s) on sticker carrier(s) and sends the registration documents including the fee notice to the applicant. The sticker holder(s) must be affixed to the license plate(s) by the holder. Corresponding instructions are enclosed with the letter from the licensing authority.

In the event that the examination of the Internet-based application reveals that one of the registration requirements for re-registration is not met, the applicant will be informed of this on the screen and can correct it if necessary

Reserve a license plate:
If you would like to have a preferred license plate, you must do this via the link to "Internet-based vehicle registration". You will find the link under "Further information" - Online service" - "Online vehicle registration - i-Kfz". This is the only way to generate the required PIN.

• identity card (PA) / electronic residence permit (eAT) with activated online identification function or electronic proof of identity (eID card) for EU citizens and members of the European Economic Area

  To read the PA or eAT, an external card reader or an Android smartphone with version 5.0 or higher and NFC interface or an IPhone 7 or higher with version iOS 13.1 or higher and the badge App2 is required.

• electronic insurance confirmation (eVB)
• Test report on a valid general inspection

  Original, no copy

• Registration certificate part I (ZB I) with attached security code
  • the indicator reserved for decommissioning
  • the vehicle identification number of the vehicle to be registered (box E of CU I)
  • the seven-digit security code of the registration certificate Part I, which was issued after 01.01.2015 and released when the vehicle was taken out of service

• The applicant is a natural person and has an account for the collection of vehicle tax
  (for legal entities, online - re-registration is not possible for the time being).
• payment of the fee by means of ePayment system
• Internet-based issuance of a SEPA mandate for the collection of the motor vehicle tax
  Note:
  a tax exemption/reduction according to § 3a paragraph 1 or 2 KraftStG must be applied for separately at the customs authority
• there must be no motor vehicle tax arrears with the main customs office or fee arrears
• the vehicle has been taken out of service
• the license plate was reserved in the course of the decommissioning for the case of re-registration, and the reservation period has not yet expired at the time of the application
  (the change or selection of a new license plate is not possible in the context of the online re-registration - for this, the visit to the vehicle registration authority is required, please book an appointment for the service re-registration of a motor vehicle without change of owner)
