Are you being served by the Adoption Center and want to adopt a specific child from abroad? Then you may be asked to submit a "declaration of readiness". The declaration of readiness states that you want to adopt the proposed child.

If you are in the process of adoption and want to adopt a particular child from abroad, then you need to officially confirm this. This is called: declaration of readiness for adoption.

This declaration of readiness must be "publicly certified". You can do this at a youth welfare office or at a notary's office.

In the youth welfare office the certification does not cost any money. In a notary's office, the certification costs money.

With this declaration of readiness, they agree to pay costs for the child. These can be costs of accommodation, education and care in case of illness or care. The adoption agency may collect the money from you. This applies from the time the child enters the country for a maximum of 6 years. The obligation ends when the child is adopted.

Such expenses may also be incurred while the child is already living in your household, but you have not yet adopted him or her. In this case, you are not obliged to pay the costs completely. Then you only pay the cost contributions that parents would also have to pay.

The international placement agency must have asked you to make a declaration as part of the adoption process. If you want to adopt the proposed child, you can make the declaration.
