If you intend to remove an installation that requires planning permission or does not require planning permission, you must notify the lower building supervisory authority at least one month in advance.
You must notify the lower building supervisory authority at least one month in advance of the removal of installations that require a building permit or do not require a building permit. If the lower building supervisory authority does not take any building supervisory measures, you can start the removal work after the expiry of the one-month period without further approval.
If the structure to be removed is attached to structures that require planning permission or do not require planning permission, the stability of these structures must be assessed by a qualified structural engineer and verified to the required extent. If necessary, the removal work must be supervised by the qualified structural engineer.
The obligation to notify does not apply to
a) installations not subject to procedures pursuant to Section 61 (1) of the Bremen State Building Code,
b) free-standing buildings of building classes 1 and 3,
c) other installations that are not buildings with a height of up to 10 meters.
These may be removed without a notice of removal.
For the removal of the following structures, you need a building permit in accordance with § 64 of the Bremen State Building Regulations:
a) protected cultural monuments that are entered in the list of monuments or buildings that are located in their vicinity,
b) for the partial removal of a building project that is to be classified as a change to a building structure or
c) if the lower building supervisory authority requires a building permit procedure after examining the notification of removal.
You submit the notification in text form using the published form. Attach the required documents.
Submit the notification to the responsible lower building supervisory authority. If documents are missing or there are other ambiguities, you will be asked to rectify these obstacles to assessment. In this case, submit the missing or amended documents and/or the clarification.
The lower building supervisory authority will review your notification. If the lower building supervisory authority does not take any further building supervisory measures within one month of confirming receipt of the complete building documents, work can begin after the one-month period has expired.
In the case of non-detached buildings, the stability of the building or buildings to which the building to be removed is attached must be assessed by a structural engineer within the meaning of Section 66 (2) of the Bremen State Building Code and verified to the required extent.
The removal must be supervised by the structural engineer in building class 2 and - where necessary - by the structural engineer for non-detached buildings in building class 3.
The confirmation of stability or proof of stability required in accordance with Section 61 (3) sentence 4 of the Bremen State Building Regulations must be checked by the building authorities in building classes 4 and 5.
§ Section 61 (3) sentences 4 to 6 of the Bremen State Building Code do not apply if the building is attached to a building that does not require a building permit.
