Notify the lower building supervisory authority at least one week in advance of the start or resumption of construction projects that require approval or do not require approval.

As a building owner, you must inform the lower building supervisory authority in text form at least one week in advance of when you wish to start your building project that requires approval or does not require approval.

The same applies if you resume construction after an interruption of more than three months.

If your building project is exempt from procedures, i.e. does not require a building permit or exemption from approval, this notification is not necessary.

In accordance with Section 72 (5) of the Bremen State Building Code, you may only start work on your building project that requires approval or is exempt from approval if

1. you have received the (partial) building permit or an exemption from approval,

2. the submitted structural engineering evidence has been checked in accordance with § 66 and the public-law approval decisions specified in the building permit have been issued and

3. the notification of the start of construction has been received from the building supervisory authority.

In addition, in accordance with Section 72 (6) of the Bremen State Building Code, the ground plan area must be marked out and its height determined before construction of a building begins.

Building permits and building documents, including the structural engineering certificates, must be available at the construction site from the start of construction.

Notify the building supervisory authority in text form at least one week in advance of the planned start of construction or the resumption of construction work after an interruption of more than three months.

The lower building supervisory authority will then check whether the conditions for starting the construction project are met. Feedback from the authority is not necessary.

If the notification of the start of construction is not submitted or not submitted on time, this can be punished as an administrative offense in accordance with Section 83 (1) of the Bremen State Building Code.
