The school-based form of vocational training at a Berufsfachschule with a vocational qualification is offered in vocational areas in which there is no comparable in-company training in this form in the dual system. Vocational training at a vocational school concludes with a state examination.

The pre-vocational courses at the Berufsfachschule deepen the vocational orientation and prepare the students for taking up vocational training. They can be 1-year or 2-year courses.

In the dual-qualification courses at the vocational school for assistants, it is possible to complete a recognized vocational training course and acquire a university entrance qualification (entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences or general higher education entrance qualification) at the same time and in an integrative manner.

• State-certified childcare assistant

In addition, there are

• Completion of the one-year pre-vocational vocational school (extended vocational training entrance qualification or intermediate school leaving certificate, possibly with GyO entrance qualification)
• Completion of the two-year higher commercial school (academic part of the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences)

The training usually takes place full-time.

The training period is 1 to 2 years in full-time form and 3 to 4 years for double-qualification courses.

• Select the vocational school of your choice.
• Pick up a paper copy of the admission form from the school office.
• Make an appointment for a mandatory counseling interview.
• Complete the admission form and submit the completed admission form together with the necessary documents to the vocational school in accordance with the school requirements.
• Once you have been selected by the vocational school, you will receive notification of your acceptance or rejection from the school.
