You must register the collection of your residual waste from your private household.

The disposal of residual waste from private households is the responsibility of Die Bremer Stadtreinigung.

Every property in Bremen must be equipped with a sufficiently large residual waste garbage can. Each person is required to provide 15 liters per week.

For private households, the size of the residual waste garbage can depends on the number of people in the household.

For commercial enterprises and clubs, the size must be determined individually depending on the sector and number of employees. This is done by the commercial customer service department of Die Bremer Stadtreinigung.

This is residual waste:

• Wallpaper, animal litter, small pieces of wood,
• light bulbs, household items, household crockery,
• Sanding and sawing dust, soiled paper and cardboard, soiled foils,
• buckets, emulsion paints, medicines, diapers,
• vacuum cleaner bags, ashes, files, audio and video cassettes.

This is not residual waste:

• Pollutants, electrical appliances, recyclables.

The residual waste garbage cans (60 - 240 liters) are collected every 14 days. Please refer to your Bremen waste calendar for the dates. You can find the number of standard empties included in the waste fee in the fee table. If you produce more residual waste and dispose of it in the residual waste garbage can, you will pay additional charges.

Please place the garbage can on the street from 18:00 at the earliest on the day before collection, but no later than 06:00 on the day of collection.

You are the owner of the property or a private residential unit. Tenants please contact the landlord.

You can apply for the residual waste garbage can in various ways:

By telephone

• You can apply for the residual waste garbage can by telephone.

In writing:

• Send the form "Ordering and/or deregistering waste garbage cans" as an e-mail.
• You can also apply for a residual waste garbage can in an informal letter.

The residual waste garbage can will then be delivered to your property address after successful processing. You will find the delivery bill and other important information on the garbage can.

If the residual waste garbage can is too full, you can also dispose of residual waste with the Bremen bin liner. You can buy them at various recycling stations and in many retail outlets.

Please place the garbage can on the sidewalk on collection day with the lid closed and the handle facing the street. Put the garbage can out from 18:00 at the earliest the day before or by 06:00 at the latest on the day of collection. Please also make sure to label your garbage can with the street and house number.
