You want to start working life as a young person? Then you must have a medical examination before starting work.
If you are under 18 years of age and would like to start working (training), you must first undergo a medical examination (initial examination).
The examination will determine whether you are physically and developmentally suitable for this occupation.
This is to prevent you from suffering damage to your health as a result of the work. After the examination, you will receive a certificate. You must present this to your employer.
You do not need to have a medical examination if you are starting a marginal job or if you are only working for a short time (maximum 2 months). This applies, for example, to a holiday job or a traineeship for schoolchildren.
The costs of the examination are paid by the state. You must apply for the initial examination in order to be reimbursed for the examination costs.
Documents that you need to present to apply for the examination authorization certificate:
- An identification document (for example, identity card or child's identity card or passport).
Documents you will receive when you pick up the examination authorization certificate:
- Investigation authorization certificate
- Application for reimbursement of the examination costs
- Survey form
You must present the documents issued to the doctor before the medical examination begins.
- You are between 15 and 17 years old
- You want to take up a job
- This work is not marginal and lasts longer than 2 months
You make an appointment at your local registration office for the issue of the examination entitlement certificate (application).
You must bring an identification document (identity card, children's identity card or passport) to the appointment. The application itself is informal.
If your application is approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility from the authorities. You must bring this with you to the examination.
It is up to you to decide which doctor you want to be examined by.
After the examination, you will receive a certificate. You must present this to your employer.
The examination must take place before you start work.
You must start work no later than 14 months after the examination.
You must present the following documents for the examination:
- Certificate of eligibility for examination signed by your parents.
- Application for reimbursement of the examination costs
- Survey form
After one year, you must be examined again. You must then present this certificate to your employer again.
- Young people (15 to 17 years of age) entering working life must first have a medical examination
- The examination must not have taken place more than 14 months previously
- Reimbursement of costs must be requested from the municipality
- The young person has free choice of doctor for the examination
