If you wish to have a non-official testing facility operated or established by a private or public entity officially recognized, you may do so by application.

A test facility is an official or officially recognized facility with organizationally independent, own material and personnel equipment for the purpose of carrying out tests to determine the efficacy of plant protection products. Experimental facilities operated or established by a private or public body may be officially recognized upon application.

The recognition will be granted if

• a permanent test leader is employed who has a degree from a university or university of applied sciences in the field of agricultural, horticultural or forestry science or comparable sciences and has at least two years of professional experience in carrying out corresponding tests,
• a suitable deputy is appointed for the head of the experiment,
• a sufficient number of qualified staff are employed,
• suitable premises in sufficient number for the proper conduct of the
  • a sufficient number of premises,
  • laboratory and outdoor equipment,
  • sufficient experimental areas, and
• if necessary, greenhouses and climatic chambers are available,
• the test guidelines to be used are known to the personnel and are available,
• a list of ongoing and completed trials is kept for approval purposes, and
• all records made in the course of the trials are kept.

You can submit an informal application in writing, enclosing all documents.

• The enclosed documents must show that you meet all the above requirements.
• The test facility will then be inspected and the results recorded.
• If necessary, conditions will be imposed on you or documents will be requested from you subsequently.

If all requirements are met, recognition is granted for five years. A certificate of recognition is issued to the test facility.

Timely application is necessary prior to the start of experiments that require official recognition or certification of the experimental facility according to Good Experimental Practice (GEP).
