Recognition as an inspection expert for technical systems and equipment is only granted to applicants who fulfill and can prove the general requirements as well as the special requirements for this specialist area. In addition to proof of a suitable university degree and sufficient professional and testing experience, a specialist assessment is carried out, which includes a written and an oral examination.

• Copy of degree and qualification certificates
• Proof of application for a certificate of good conduct for submission to an authority (document type O or P)
• Details of branches and shareholdings in companies
• Proof of professional experience and participation in examinations

• Completion of an engineering degree at a German university or an equivalent degree at a foreign university or other equivalent foreign institution
• At least five years of practical experience as an engineer in the field in which recognition is requested, including at least two years of involvement in examinations
• Proof of special expertise in the subject area applied for (to be provided as part of the recognition procedure in the form of an expert opinion)

200,- to 300,- € per subject area (costs of the expert assessment by the expert assessment body not included).

The processing time depends on the review dates of the specialist reviewing bodies.

Registration is possible at any time. The examinations take place approx. 1 to 2 times a year.

Recognition can be applied for in the following specialist areas:

• Ventilation systems,
• CO warning systems,
• smoke and heat extraction systems,
• pressurized ventilation systems,
• fire extinguishing systems,
• fire detection and alarm systems,
• safety power supplies.
