You can apply to the Chamber of Engineers for recognition as a test expert for safety-related building equipment.

Inspection experts inspect and certify compliance with building code requirements in their respective specialist area on behalf of the client or other person responsible under building code law. The inspection experts are independent within the scope of their inspection tasks and are not bound by instructions from the client.

Inspection experts for safety-related building equipment inspect and certify the compliance of the safety-related building equipment with the requirements under public law as defined in §§ 1 and 2 of the Brandenburg Safety-Related Building Equipment Inspection Ordinance. If any defects found are not rectified within the period specified by the inspection experts, they must inform the building supervisory authority.

Only persons who are recognized in accordance with the Brandenburg Testing Expert Ordinancemay use the title of testing expert or testing expert . The recognition authority for inspection experts in the state of Brandenburg is the Brandenburg Chamber of Engineers (BBIK).

Recognition as an inspection expert or inspection expert for safety-related building equipment is only granted if you meet the general requirements as well as the special requirements for this specialist area (including proof of professional experience and special knowledge) and can provide evidence of this. The examination procedure for recognition includes a written and an oral examination.

Recognition can be applied for in the following specialist areas:

• Ventilation systems,
• CO warning systems,
• smoke extraction systems,
• fire extinguishing systems,
• fire detection and alarm systems,
• safety power supplies.

The application for recognition as a test expert or test expert for earthworks and foundation engineering must be accompanied by

• a curriculum vitae with complete details of the professional career up to the date of application
• a copy of each of the diploma and employment certificates,
• proof of the application for a certificate of good conduct for submission to an authority (document type O or P) or an equivalent document from a member state of the European Union, whereby the certificate or document should not be older than three months,
• Details of the registered office and any other branches,
• information on any participation in a company whose purpose is the planning or execution of construction projects, and proof of fulfillment of the special requirements for recognition in accordance with Section 5 (4) BbgPrüfSV.

The professional requirements are met by a person who

• has a professionally qualifying university degree in the field of building safety equipment and is entitled to use the professional title of "engineer",
• has worked as an engineer for at least five years in the specialist area or field in which the testing activity is to be carried out and has been involved in testing for at least two years,
• has professional experience dating back no more than two years,
• proves the necessary knowledge of the legal regulations, technical building regulations and the relevant technical rules and regulations relevant to the testing activity and
• proves that the special requirements for the respective specialist area or specialist field are fulfilled.

Examination of the formal requirements for recognition as an inspection expert or inspection expert: EUR 500.

Fees are based on tariff item 7.4 of the Brandenburg Building Fee Regulations

• Submit the completed application form and the required documents to the Chamber of Engineers
• The Brandenburg Chamber of Engineers decides on the application for recognition as an inspection expert in the state of Brandenburg. The recognition authority checks the personal and professional requirements of the applicant on the basis of the documents submitted in accordance with § 5 BbgPrüfSV.
• After receipt and preliminary examination of the application documents, the recognition authority initiates the appropriate measures for the preparation of an expert opinion to be provided for the applicant.
• Request to BBIK by the respective competent recognition authority for the preparation of an expert opinion
• Personal preparation of the candidate for the examination - BBIK offers specialist seminars to prepare for the examination
• Written examination Oral/practical examination on a specified technical system

• Preparation of a technical report by the BBIK examination board and forwarding to the recognition authority of the respective federal state Decision on recognition by the recognition authority of the respective federal state

Registration is possible at any time. The examinations take place approximately once a year.

The designation "inspection expert" may only be used with an indication of the specialist area and the specialist field for which the inspection expert is recognized in accordance with this ordinance.
